Feel good Friday!

Hi everyone,

It's Friday and this is a particularly good one.

I have just totalled up all the donations made to The MS Society from my sponsors and the total is a whopping

£1603 !!

Can you believe how much you have all raised for the MS Society?

Thanks to your generosity they will have those extra funds available to finance the support and research work that they carry out for people suffering from Multiple Sclerosis

You can all be so proud of what you have collectively achieved, I am so honoured to be in the company of such supportive friends and family, you are all amazing!

I know you'll all believe I completed the run, but just so you can be sure here's some images from the day as well as my finishers certificate.

All smiles before the race!

Tim 'just one more hill' Doswell looking a bit apprehensive as the clouds rolled in before the race, or maybe he was considering how he would make me suffer during the run....

Tim straight after finish! We were both really pleased to finish under 2 hours, especially as we both had plenty left to give............ Well, a bit more any way.

And the all important certificate with official timing!

And here's the unofficial records taken direct from my Endomondo

As well as thanking you all for the exceptional support I have to give a special thanks to Tim Doswell, without his prompting I certainly would never have considered doing a half marathon and without him as my training partner I'm sure I'd never have managed to finish let alone it in the time I did.

So from Myself, Lyndsay and the MS Society, Thankyou all for being Superstars!!!

Feel Good Friday!!!!!!!

A Major Milestone!

I just wanted to let you all know that your generosity and support has already raised £1100 in online and offline donations for the MS Society!

Well done everyone!

You've all been amazing and I honestly never dreamed you'd all donate so much in such a short space of time, you should all be incredibly proud :)

It's now less than 2 weeks away and hopefully the training will pay off on the day, I just need to keep up with Tim and get over that line to have made all your sponsorship worthwhile.

If you haven't already sponsored me then it's not too late, you can click on the link below and leave a donation and message on my MS Society charity fundraising page :-

If you are unaware of what Multiple Sclerosis is (as I was until only a few years ago) then you can learn more by clicking on the link below :-

I know it's only a half marathon (but trust me that's tough enough) but I've been taking this seriously, because if you are willing to sponsor me then the least I can do is put in the best effort I can.

So, since agreeing to do this 6 weeks ago I have racked up 129.05 miles in training runs. Bringing my average minute miles down from over 10.30 to 9.11 per mile, I'm certainly never going to be giving any serious runners cause for concern but it does hopefully mean I'll be able to cover the distance in just under 2 hours on the day.........

By the looks of the training, and staying on schedule, I'll have almost run for 24 hours :)

Here's my stats from Endomondo just to show I've been a good boy.

I will be updating the page after the event as well as listing everyone who has so generously donated to this cause because I think you all deserve due credit for doing such an amazing job in such a short space of time.

Make it fun?

I also thought that maybe we could do a Sweepstake? If everyone puts down the expected time for me to complete then we can see who's closest at the end?

So far both my half marathon attempts have been 2 hours and 2 hours 5 minutes respectively, although I am hoping to pull in the Great North in under 2 hours as both these runs were on very hilly roads.

Leave your guesses in the comments below or on Facebook and we'll see who's closest :)

Great North Run update

I now have my MS Society shirt and run number!

I've managed the distance (just) and now that I'm training with Tim, Iain & Ols from the lab I should be on target to finish the run without being overtaken by too many people in full fancy dress :)

It's getting very real now.

You can support the MS Society by sponsoring my run here :-

All donations will be very much appreciated by myself and everyone who benefits from the fantastic work the MS Society do.

I'll update more before the day and also with some pictures from the day itself.

Great North Run

I was talked into taking on the Great North Run by Tim Doswell

Tim has recently been on a huge health kick which saw him complete a Triathlon earlier this year. Not happy with that achievement he decided to sign up for the Great North Run immediately after, then persuaded me to do the same thing.

I'll be honest, when Tim suggested it I thought there was no way I could possibly run a half marathon but after training with Tim for the last 4 weeks there's a good chance we'll both be able to cross the finish line in under 2 hours.

I've finally managed the distance along with Tim, you can follow my training progress here
